EDUCATION – She matriculated at Stellenberg High School in Cape Town. She qualified as a Senior Specialized Auxiliary Services Officer (Weather Observer) in January 2002 and was stationed at the George Weather Officer until September 2002.
CAREER – Heybrech joined the South African Air Force in October 2002 and qualified as a pilot in June 2005. Streamed for the Fighter Line, Heybrech was first sent to 41 Squadron in Pretoria to fly transport aircraft for two years and during this time she was also the Aviation Safety Officer at 41 Squadron. She returned to Central Flying School (CFS) Langebaanweg in June 2007 for Instructors Course and completed the course in July 2008. She again took up the post as Aviation Safety Officer from 2007 until 2009. She qualified as a ‘B’ Category Instructor in January 2010 and is currently stationed at the Testing and Evaluation section at CFS Langebaanweg. Heybrech was appointed as the Ground Liaison Officer for the Team in March 2010 and selected as a fully fledged member on the 5th of August 2010, flying in the number 2 (Right Wing) position. Heybrech has attained more than 1400 military flying hours, flew her first official display with the Team on 25 March 2011 at the Rapport/Club Mykonos Festival in Langebaan and has now represented the Silver Falcons in more than 15 official displays.
BACKGROUND – Heybrech is single and in her spare time she enjoys anything from reading, camping, hiking, drawing, painting, squash, tennis , chess and playing musical instruments.
GOOD TO KNOW – Heybrech was the top student on both her Officer Formative Course and Pilots Wings Course, being the first recipient of the United Kingdom Squadron Sword and the first female to receive the Flying trophy and Best Overall Student on course trophies on the respective courses.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS – Qualifying as a pilot in 2005 . Being selected as the Silver Falcons GLO for Team 70 in March 2010 and being selected as a flying member in August 2010 . Attending the 50th anniversary of the Italian Air Force Display Team in Italy during September 2010 and qualifying as a fully fledged member of the Silver Falcon Aerobatic Display Team in March 2011 .
